About Mast General Store Winston-Salem

Mast General Store was established in 1883. Today, it offers friendly service and a broad selection of goods, including locally produced food, hundreds of old-fashioned candies, kitchen supplies, housewares, souvenirs, and children’s toys and games. The Mast Store also features fashion collections as well as outdoor-themed apparel, gear, footwear, and an extensive Knife Shop. Mast General Store is pet, family, and explorer-friendly with a knowledgeable staff that prides itself on hospitality. The Winston-Salem Mast Store is housed in the historic Brown-Rogers-Dixson building. When this 70,000 square foot structure was built in 1924, it was the city’s largest retail/wholesale space and among the largest in the Southeast.

There is absolutely nothing in this store that you need. Also, you will leave every single time with a bag of vintage candy, a novelty cookbook, and a quirky t-shirt. Or is that just me? Oh well. Love wasting time and money here, will be back soon. ❤️

We been to the Mast General Store in Boone and Valley Crucis many times. This store is very nice as well. If you enjoy and old country store feel, this is a great place to shop. We ended up buying some shoes as well. Great selection. I wish there was a sign off West 6th Street notating parking inside parking deck for Mast General. There us an entrance to Mast General Store off the 2nd floor of the parking deck. It took us a while to figure that out. We enjoyed our visit and we'll be back again in the near future. I'd recommend.

This was my first visit to the Winston-Salem Mast General Store. Happy they were open on Labor Day. We have visited a few locations including the original store in Valle Crucis & Boone. I love their quality merchandise & great service! They had a lot of end of Summer sale merchandise that is worth checking out! I know folks especially with kids that visit just for the candy! What a fun place! Great selection of nice clothing and shoes for men, women, and children. Great camping and hiking supplies too. There is also a fun old time candy store right there in the general store. For a trip back in time you have to check out the Mast General Store

Great modern day store with a old general store fill.. Have all the knickknacks and candies you'd expect with modern camping gear, clothes, knives, and other neat things. There are 2 stories, the downstairs is shoes, clothes and a knife section. Staff are super nice and helpful. Great place to just check out. We were told to and happy we stopped in.
